Storage, Meet limits, Gemini AI, Vault, pricing and how to choose between Starter, Standard and Plus.
1What are the Google Workspace Business editions?
The Google Workspace Business family has three editions for organisations with 1–300 users: Business Starter (30 GB pooled storage per user), Business Standard (2 TB pooled storage per user), and Business Plus (5 TB pooled storage per user). All three include custom-domain Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Calendar, Chat, Keep, Sites, Tasks, Gemini app access, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Higher editions add larger storage, more Gemini AI in the apps, longer Meet capacity with recording, eSignature, Vault eDiscovery (Plus), and advanced endpoint management (Plus). If you need more than 300 users or premium security like DLP and client-side encryption, you move up to the Enterprise editions.
2What is the difference between Business Starter, Standard, and Plus?
The headline differences are storage, Meet capacity, AI, and security/compliance. Business Starter gives 30 GB pooled storage, 100-participant Meet, and Gemini in Gmail/Vids. Business Standard raises storage to 2 TB, Meet to 150 participants with recording, breakout rooms, polls and transcription, adds full Gemini across Docs/Sheets/Slides/Meet/Chat/Drive, eSignature, and mail merge. Business Plus raises storage to 5 TB, Meet to 500 participants, and adds Google Vault (eDiscovery, retention, legal hold), advanced endpoint management, security advisor data protection, and longer session controls. Pricing scales accordingly. The full feature-by-feature comparison table on this page shows every row exactly as Google publishes it.
3How much do Google Workspace Business editions cost in India?
PrecisionTech offers Google Workspace at India INR pricing, billed annually (prepaid) per user with a GST invoice. Business Starter is INR 1,932/user/year (new) and INR 3,240 on renewal. Business Standard is INR 10,368/user/year (new) and INR 12,960 on renewal. Business Plus is INR 20,400/user/year. Prices are per user, GST extra. Because PrecisionTech is an authorised Google Workspace partner, you get the same Google product with local INR billing, GST invoicing, setup, migration and India-time support — contact us for a current quote tailored to your user count.
4Which Google Workspace edition includes Google Vault?
Google Vault — used for eDiscovery, email/chat retention policies, legal hold and archiving — is included in Business Plus within the Business family. It is not part of Business Standard. (Vault is also available in the Enterprise editions.) If your organisation has regulatory retention requirements — for example, finance firms under SEBI/RBI, insurers under IRDAI, or any business that must preserve email for litigation — Business Plus is usually the minimum Business edition you need. PrecisionTech configures Vault retention rules and legal holds as part of deployment.
5How many people can join a Google Meet call on each Business edition?
Maximum Google Meet participants per meeting are: Business Starter — 100, Business Standard — 150, and Business Plus — 500. Every Business edition supports meetings up to 24 hours long, external participants, screen sharing, hand raising and reactions. Meeting recording to Drive, breakout rooms, polls, Q&A, transcription and Gemini "take notes for me" start at Business Standard. If you need 1,000 participants with in-domain live streaming, that is an Enterprise edition feature.
6How much storage do you get with Google Workspace Business plans?
Storage is pooled per user (shared across Gmail, Drive and Google Photos): Business Starter — 30 GB per user, Business Standard — 2 TB per user, and Business Plus — 5 TB per user. "Pooled" means the per-user allowance is added to a shared organisation pool, so a 10-user Business Standard account has roughly 20 TB available across the whole company rather than a hard 2 TB cap per person. Admins can also purchase additional pooled storage on any Business edition. New Business Starter customers get pooled storage by default.
7Is Gemini AI included in all Google Workspace Business editions?
Every Business edition includes access to the Gemini app with enterprise-grade data protection, plus Gemini in Gmail (help me write, summaries, suggested replies, proofread) and Google Vids. The fuller set of Gemini features inside Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Chat, Forms and Drive — such as "help me write" in Docs, the AI function in Sheets, "take notes for me" in Meet, and conversation summaries in Chat — is available on Business Standard and Business Plus. AI usage limits (image, video, music, deep research, etc.) differ by edition and change frequently; the Gemini section on this page lists current limits as published by Google.
8Is "Google email for business" the same as Google Workspace?
Yes. When people search for "Google email for business", "business Gmail", "Gmail for company", "Google email with my domain", "Google office" or the old name "G Suite", they are describing Google Workspace. It gives you professional email at your own domain (you@yourcompany.com) instead of an @gmail.com address, together with Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet and Calendar, all managed centrally by an admin. The Business editions on this page are the versions most small and mid-size companies choose.
9What is the difference between Google Workspace Business and Enterprise editions?
The Business editions are capped at 300 users and cover the needs of most small and mid-size organisations. The Enterprise editions support unlimited users and add premium security and compliance that Business does not include — for example Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for Gmail and Drive, client-side encryption, context-aware access, S/MIME, enterprise data regions, the security investigation tool, and 1,000-participant Meet with live streaming. If you are under 300 users and do not need DLP or data residency controls, a Business edition is usually the right fit. PrecisionTech can assess your requirements and recommend the correct tier.
10Do these features require verifying my domain?
Many do. Throughout Google's comparison tables, footnotes mark features that need either signing up with a verified business domain (or a personal Gmail address) before they switch on — for example custom email addresses, mailing lists, advanced Gmail compliance controls, shared drives admin controls, resource booking and SSO. This is normal: verifying your domain proves you own it and unlocks admin-managed features. PrecisionTech handles domain verification, MX records, and SPF/DKIM/DMARC as part of setup, so the conditional (asterisked) features are active from day one. The legend under each table on this page explains exactly what each asterisk means.
11Can Google Workspace Business migrate my existing email?
Yes. All Business editions include Google's migration tools to bring email, calendars, contacts and files across from your current provider. Business Starter covers email migration plus the standard data-migration tools; migration from Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace Migrate are available from Business Standard upward. In practice PrecisionTech manages the whole migration for you — from cPanel/webmail, Outlook/Exchange, Microsoft 365, Zoho, Yahoo or any IMAP server — preserving folder structure with no data loss, and switching MX records at cutover so there is no downtime.
12How many users can I have on a Google Workspace Business edition?
Every Business edition — Starter, Standard and Plus — supports 1 to 300 users. You can start with a single user and add seats as you grow, up to the 300-user limit. If you expect to exceed 300 users, or you need the premium security controls described above, you should plan for an Enterprise edition instead. PrecisionTech can mix editions where it makes sense (for example, Business Plus for managers who need Vault and Business Starter for field staff), all under one domain and one admin console.
13Which Business edition has eSignature and mail merge?
eSignature in Google Docs and Drive, smart chip data extraction, document approvals, and personalised email mail merge are available on Business Standard and Business Plus. Business Starter does not include them. Mail merge (personalised email campaigns from Gmail) specifically requires a verified domain. If sending branded, personalised client emails or collecting signatures inside Google Docs matters to your team, Business Standard is the entry point for those features.
14Does Google Workspace Business include device (mobile) management?
Yes — at different levels. Fundamental endpoint management (basic mobile management, passcode enforcement, remote account wipe, endpoint verification, block devices) is available on all three Business editions. Advanced endpoint management — strong passcode enforcement, Android work profiles, zero-touch enrollment, remote device wipe and Windows device management — is part of Business Plus. The most advanced "Enterprise endpoint management" capabilities (such as iOS data protection and mobile device certificates) require an Enterprise edition. Advanced mobile features also require enabling advanced mobile management in the admin console.
15What support is included with Google Workspace Business editions?
All Business editions include Google's Standard Support and the 99.9% uptime guarantee. On top of Google's own support, PrecisionTech — as your authorised partner — provides India-time assistance for setup, configuration changes, user onboarding, migration and day-to-day administration in English and Hindi. That means you have a local point of contact rather than only Google's self-service channels. Support scope is agreed as part of your engagement; contact us to discuss the level your organisation needs.
16Is Google Workspace better than Microsoft 365 for my business?
Both are excellent; the right choice depends on how your team works. Google Workspace is cloud-native and shines for real-time collaboration, simple administration, and Gmail/Meet/Drive workflows — it is often faster to deploy and easier to manage for teams that live in the browser. Microsoft 365 is preferred where desktop Word/Excel/PowerPoint and deep Office-file workflows are central. This page focuses on comparing the Google Workspace Business editions to each other; PrecisionTech is a partner for both platforms and can give you an unbiased, requirement-based recommendation, plus migration either way.
17Does Google Workspace Business include security like 2-step verification and phishing protection?
Yes. All Business editions include 2-Step Verification (2FA), enforced SSL connections, password strength controls, security keys support, junk/virus filtering, and advanced phishing and malware protection for Gmail. Business Standard and Plus add advanced attachment scanning (Security Sandbox). Higher-end controls — DLP, client-side encryption, context-aware access, the security investigation tool and security dashboard — are not in the Business family and require an Enterprise edition. PrecisionTech configures 2FA enforcement and email authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) for every deployment.
18What is pooled storage in Google Workspace?
Pooled storage means each user's storage allowance contributes to a single shared pool for the whole organisation, instead of being locked to that individual. For example, on Business Standard (2 TB per user), a 20-user account has about 40 TB shared across everyone — so a few heavy users can use more while light users use less, with no per-person hard wall until the pool is exhausted. Admins can monitor pool usage and buy additional pooled storage on any Business edition if the organisation grows beyond its included pool.
19Can I mix different Google Workspace editions in one organisation?
Yes. Within the same domain and admin console you can assign different editions to different users — for example Business Plus licences for staff who need Vault and 5 TB storage, and Business Starter licences for users with lighter needs. This keeps costs aligned to actual requirements. There are some interaction rules between editions, and certain features behave best when a whole team is on the same tier; PrecisionTech can design the right licence mix for your organisation and manage the assignments for you.
