Everything you need to know about Tally on Cloud, TallyPrime hosting, multi-user access, GST compliance, security, and PrecisionTech's managed cloud VPS services in Dubai.
1
What is Tally on Cloud and how does it work?
Tally on Cloud is a managed hosting service where your TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 software and data are installed on a dedicated cloud Virtual Private Server (VPS) in a Tier-3 data centre — instead of on your office desktop or local server. The VPS runs Windows Server and publishes Tally via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). You connect to it from any device — Windows PC, MacBook, iPad, Android phone, or Chromebook — using the Remote Desktop client or a browser, enter your Tally Cloud login credentials, and see your Tally interface exactly as if you were sitting in front of an office PC. Because the VPS is running 24×7 in the cloud, your Tally data is always live, always backed up, and always accessible from any location or internet connection. PrecisionTech provisions, secures, monitors, and maintains the VPS — you just use Tally.
2
What is the difference between TallyPrime on Cloud and Tally ERP 9 on Cloud?
TallyPrime is the current generation of Tally Solutions' flagship accounting and ERP software — the successor to Tally ERP 9, launched in 2020. TallyPrime introduces a completely redesigned interface (Go To navigation, customisable reports), enhanced GST compliance (GST Reconciliation, e-Invoice generation directly from Tally, e-Way Bill), improved multi-user performance, and a simpler, more intuitive workflow for small and medium Indian businesses. Tally ERP 9 is the older version (TallyPrime 1.0 = Tally ERP 9 Release 6.6 in new branding). Both versions work seamlessly on PrecisionTech's Tally Cloud VPS — the cloud hosting infrastructure is version-agnostic. If you have existing Tally ERP 9 data, we migrate it to the VPS and you can continue using ERP 9 or upgrade to TallyPrime at your own pace. Tally Solutions recommends all businesses migrate to TallyPrime for the best GST compliance and support experience.
3
Can I use Tally on Cloud on a Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Linux device?
Yes — this is one of the most important advantages of Tally on Cloud. Since Tally itself runs on a Windows Server VPS in the data centre and not on your local device, the device you use to connect to it is irrelevant. You can access Tally on Cloud from: MacBook (using Microsoft Remote Desktop for macOS — free on App Store), iPad or iPhone (using Microsoft Remote Desktop for iOS — free), Android phone or tablet (using Microsoft Remote Desktop for Android — free), Windows PC or laptop (built-in Remote Desktop — no install needed), Chromebook (using the Chrome RDP extension or Android RDP app), and Linux (using Remmina or another RDP client). Tally Solutions does not provide a native Mac or iOS build of TallyPrime — Tally on Cloud is the only reliable, officially supported way to use Tally on a Mac or iPhone.
4
What internet speed is required for Tally on Cloud?
Tally on Cloud via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is highly bandwidth-efficient because only screen changes (not the full application) are transmitted over the internet. A minimum broadband speed of 1 Mbps per simultaneous user is sufficient for normal Tally operations — reports, voucher entry, and navigation. We recommend 2–5 Mbps per user for a smooth, responsive experience with fast report loading. Even a 4G mobile connection (typically 10–40 Mbps) works perfectly for accessing Tally on Cloud while travelling. You do not need a dedicated leased line or fibre connection — any stable broadband or 4G/5G connection is sufficient. Latency (ping) matters more than bandwidth for RDP responsiveness: aim for below 50ms to PrecisionTech's data centres in India.
5
Is my Tally data safe and secure on the cloud?
Yes — PrecisionTech's Tally Cloud VPS infrastructure delivers multiple layers of data security: (1) Isolated VPS — your VPS is a fully dedicated private virtual machine, not shared with other customers. Your Tally data and Windows environment are isolated from all other tenants. (2) Enterprise firewall — dedicated hardware firewall and Windows Firewall rules block all unauthorised access; only RDP port is open and protected with Network Level Authentication (NLA). (3) Antivirus and anti-ransomware — real-time antivirus and ransomware protection runs on every VPS, continuously monitoring for threats. (4) Daily automated backups — Tally data and VPS snapshots are backed up automatically every day and retained for rolling history, protecting against accidental deletion, corruption, and ransomware. (5) Data centre physical security — Tier-3 data centres with 24×7 physical access control, CCTV, biometric entry, and N+1 power redundancy. (6) Strong password policy — we enforce complex RDP passwords and can configure multi-factor authentication (MFA) for additional login security. (7) Private data — your data never leaves India; all VPS infrastructure is hosted in Indian data centres.
6
Can multiple users access Tally simultaneously on a single VPS?
Yes — multi-user simultaneous access is a core feature of Tally on Cloud VPS. Each of our plans supports a specific number of concurrent RDP sessions: PURPLE supports 1 user, YELLOW supports 2 users, ORANGE supports 5 users, and RED supports 10 users. Each user gets their own RDP session on the VPS and works in the same Tally company simultaneously — exactly like a networked Tally setup in an office, but accessible from anywhere in the world. For multi-user access, you need a Tally Multi-User licence (which allows multiple simultaneous Tally users in one company). If you have multiple branches or offices, each office user connects to the same cloud VPS over the internet — all working on the same live Tally data in real time. For teams larger than 10 users or requiring more RAM, we provide custom configurations — contact us.
7
Do I need to buy a new Tally licence for Tally on Cloud hosting?
No — you do not need to purchase a new Tally licence specifically for cloud hosting. You use your existing Tally Prime or Tally ERP 9 licence on the cloud VPS exactly as you would use it on an office server. If you are purchasing Tally for the first time, you need to buy a Tally licence from an authorised Tally partner (PrecisionTech is a Certified Official Tally Partner and can sell you a licence). For multi-user access, you need a Tally Silver (single user) or Tally Gold (multi-user — unlimited users in one location) licence — we can advise on the correct licence for your requirements. The Tally Cloud VPS hosting fee (INR 5,999–19,999/year) is separate from and in addition to your Tally software licence cost. TSS (Tally Software Services subscription) renewal is also separate — PrecisionTech can renew TSS for you as an authorised partner.
8
Does TDL (Tally Definition Language) customisation work on Tally on Cloud?
Yes — TDL customisations work fully on Tally on Cloud VPS. Since the VPS runs a complete Windows Server environment with a full TallyPrime installation, any TDL extension (.tdl file or .tcp file) that works on a local Tally installation will work identically on the cloud VPS. You simply upload the TDL file to the VPS (via the remote desktop connection) and configure Tally to load it at startup — exactly the same process as a local machine. The only exception is TDL modules that integrate with local hardware devices (e.g., a USB barcode scanner or weighbridge connected directly to a physical PC) — those require the hardware device to be accessible over the network or a workaround. Software-based TDL integrations (GST, e-Invoice, bank reconciliation, payroll, manufacturing, custom reports) all work without any changes.
9
What is the difference between Tally Cloud VPS (private) and shared Tally hosting?
Tally Cloud VPS means you get a fully dedicated Virtual Private Server — your own isolated Windows Server environment with guaranteed RAM, CPU cores, and storage that no other customer shares. Shared Tally hosting (also called user-based Tally cloud) means multiple customers' Tally instances run on a single shared server — resources are pooled and not guaranteed. VPS advantages over shared: (1) Performance guarantee — your RAM (4–12 GB) and CPU are reserved for you alone; performance doesn't degrade when other customers are busy. (2) Full isolation — no risk of data leakage or security issues from other tenants. (3) Full control — install any TDL, configure Windows settings, install additional software (Office, PDF tools, custom integrations). (4) Scalability — upgrade RAM, storage, or users independently. (5) Custom configurations — set your own backup schedule, user accounts, firewall rules. PrecisionTech's plans are all VPS-based (not shared hosting), starting from the PURPLE plan at ₹5,999/year.
10
What is included in PrecisionTech's Tally Cloud VPS plans?
All four PrecisionTech Tally Cloud VPS plans (PURPLE, YELLOW, ORANGE, RED) include: dedicated Windows Server VPS with guaranteed RAM and storage, unlimited monthly internet bandwidth on the VPS, antivirus and anti-ransomware protection, daily automated backups of Tally data and VPS snapshots, local printer redirection (print from Tally on Cloud directly to your office or home printer), free initial setup (we install Windows, Tally, configure RDP, and hand over ready-to-use login credentials — typically within 1–4 business hours), and online support. Plans differ in: storage (50 GB to 200 GB), number of concurrent users (1 to 10), and RAM (4 GB to 12 GB). All prices are annual (pay once a year), with no hidden monthly charges. GST invoice provided. For monthly plans or custom requirements, contact our sales team.
11
Can I access GST reports, file GST returns, and generate e-Invoices from Tally on Cloud?
Yes — GST compliance is one of the primary use cases for Tally on Cloud. TallyPrime on Cloud supports: (1) GST return filing — GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2A/2B reconciliation — directly from Tally via the GSTN portal or using the JSON export to upload on the GST portal. (2) e-Invoice (IRN) generation — TallyPrime directly integrates with the NIC Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) via Tally's built-in e-Invoicing feature; generates IRN and QR code automatically for B2B invoices above the threshold. (3) e-Way Bill — generate e-Way Bills directly from Tally for consignments exceeding ₹50,000. (4) TDS/TCS compliance — TallyPrime manages TDS deductions, TDS returns, and Form 26Q/27Q. (5) Payroll — PF, ESI, professional tax, and Form 16 generation. Since the VPS has internet access, all Tally online compliance features (e-Invoice, e-Way Bill, GST filing, TDS returns) work exactly as they would on an office computer.
12
What is the difference between Tally on Cloud and Tally.NET?
Tally.NET is Tally Solutions' own remote access service that allows Tally users to share a company running on their local (office) computer with remote users — without moving data to the cloud. Tally.NET requires your office computer to be switched on 24×7 and the local internet connection to be stable and always-on. If your office power goes out, internet fails, or the computer restarts, remote Tally.NET access breaks. Tally on Cloud is fundamentally different: your Tally and data live on a cloud VPS in a Tier-3 data centre with 99.9%+ uptime, UPS, diesel generator backup, and redundant internet connectivity — your office computer can be switched off entirely and everyone can still access Tally from anywhere. Tally on Cloud is therefore more reliable, more performant, and more suitable for multi-user and multi-branch businesses than Tally.NET remote access.
13
How does Tally on Cloud help multi-branch businesses?
Multi-branch businesses are one of the biggest beneficiaries of Tally on Cloud. In a traditional setup, each branch runs its own Tally on a local computer, and branches either exchange data files manually (USB/email) or set up complex VPN + Tally server configurations. With Tally on Cloud: (1) All branches connect to the same single VPS over the internet — no data synchronisation needed. (2) All voucher entries from all branches are in one Tally company in real time — the head office sees branch transactions the moment they are entered. (3) Branch-level security — Tally's user security features restrict which users can access which company data, which masters they can alter, and which reports they can view. (4) Centralised TallyPrime licence — a single Tally Gold (multi-user) licence covers all users in all branches connecting to the same VPS. (5) No VPN required — branches connect over standard internet; no network configuration needed at branch offices. This is ideal for retail chains, CA firms with multiple offices, manufacturing companies with plants and head office, and trading businesses with go-downs in different cities.
14
How does Tally on Cloud help Chartered Accountants (CAs) and accounting firms?
Tally on Cloud provides specific advantages for CA firms and accounting professionals: (1) Multiple client companies on one VPS — a CA can maintain Tally data for all their clients in separate Tally companies on a single VPS (or across multiple VPS plans for large client bases). (2) Client access sharing — you can create separate RDP user accounts for each client, allowing them to enter their own transactions while the CA firm retains admin control. (3) Remote work — audit teams and article staff can access client Tally data from home, client offices, or anywhere without carrying physical data files or hard drives. (4) GST reconciliation — TallyPrime's GST Reconciliation feature allows CAs to compare GSTR-2B (from GSTN portal) with purchase ledger in Tally — critical for Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims. (5) Year-end audit — access client data during year-end audit without physically visiting the client office. (6) Data security — client data never needs to leave the data centre; no risk of data loss from a stolen hard drive or failed laptop. PrecisionTech offers custom multi-client Tally Cloud VPS configurations designed specifically for CA practices.
15
What is the setup time for Tally on Cloud after purchase?
After you purchase a Tally Cloud VPS plan and complete payment, PrecisionTech's setup team provisions your VPS and delivers your login credentials typically within 1–4 business hours during business hours (9 AM – 9 PM IST). The setup process includes: provisioning the Windows Server VPS in our Tier-3 data centre, configuring the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) access, installing antivirus and security software, setting up automated backup, and installing TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 (if you've already purchased a Tally licence — provide us the serial number and activation key). You receive an email with your VPS IP address, username, and password. Our team also provides a one-time free onboarding session (15–30 minutes) to help you connect from your devices and migrate your existing Tally data to the VPS. For urgent same-day setups, contact our sales team directly.
16
How do I migrate my existing Tally data to Tally on Cloud?
Migrating your existing Tally data to the cloud VPS is straightforward and typically takes less than 30 minutes: (1) Locate your Tally data folder on your existing computer (usually C:\Tally\Data or D:\Tally\Data — folder contains numbered subfolders like 10001, 10002 for each company). (2) Copy the data folder to a USB drive, or share it over the network, or upload it to a shared folder. (3) Connect to your new cloud VPS via Remote Desktop. (4) Copy the data folder from your device to the VPS (you can drag-and-drop files between your local computer and the remote desktop session). (5) Open TallyPrime on the VPS, and it will detect the data automatically. Our support team handles the migration for you as part of the free setup process — you simply share your data with us via the remote desktop session or a file transfer, and we configure everything correctly. If you have very large data (10+ GB), we may use an alternative transfer method.
17
What happens to my data if I discontinue the Tally on Cloud service?
Your Tally data belongs to you — it is not locked into PrecisionTech's platform. If you discontinue the service: (1) Before the plan expires, connect to your VPS via Remote Desktop and copy your Tally data folder to your local computer (drag-and-drop in the Remote Desktop window). (2) You can then install TallyPrime locally on any computer and open the data — it works identically to data that was always on a local machine. (3) We also provide a final data backup on request at the time of termination. (4) After the VPS is decommissioned, all data is securely wiped from the server in accordance with our data deletion policy. We strongly recommend taking a data backup well before your plan expiry — our automated daily backups are retained and accessible during the subscription period. PrecisionTech does not hold your data hostage or charge exit fees — data portability is guaranteed.
18
Can I print from Tally on Cloud to my local office printer?
Yes — local printer redirection is supported on all PrecisionTech Tally Cloud VPS plans. When you connect to the VPS via Remote Desktop, Windows automatically makes your local printers (connected to your office PC, laptop, or network) available inside the remote session. In TallyPrime on the VPS, when you go to Print (Ctrl+P), your local printers appear in the printer list exactly as if TallyPrime were installed locally. You select your local printer and print — the print job travels from the VPS over the RDP connection to your local printer. This works with USB printers, network printers, PDF printers (Save as PDF), and any Windows-compatible printer driver. No special configuration is needed on your printer — just ensure it is set as a network-shared printer or connected to the computer you use to access the VPS.
19
Can I create multiple Tally companies on a single VPS?
Yes — you can create as many Tally companies as you need on a single VPS, subject only to the storage limit of your plan. Tally does not charge per company — a single Tally Gold licence allows unlimited companies on one installation. Whether you have 2 companies or 200 companies, they all run on the same VPS and Tally licence. The PURPLE plan (50 GB storage) typically handles 5–20 companies for small businesses; the ORANGE (150 GB) and RED (200 GB) plans handle large company counts, large transaction volumes, and CA firms with many client companies. Each company is stored in a separate numbered subfolder in the Tally data directory — you can selectively back up individual company data if needed.
20
What is TallyPrime's e-Invoicing feature and does it work on Tally on Cloud?
e-Invoicing (Electronic Invoicing) is a GST mandate introduced by the Government of India for B2B and B2G transactions above specified turnover thresholds. When you raise a sales invoice in TallyPrime, the software automatically submits it to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) via API — the IRP assigns a unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN) and a digitally signed QR code. This IRN and QR code are then printed on the invoice. The mandate currently applies to businesses with aggregate turnover above ₹5 crore. TallyPrime's built-in e-Invoicing feature works fully on Tally on Cloud — since the VPS has direct internet connectivity, TallyPrime can reach the IRP API without any proxy or firewall changes. No additional software is needed. Similarly, TallyPrime on Cloud supports e-Way Bill generation for goods movement exceeding ₹50,000 in value.
21
What is the uptime guarantee and SLA for PrecisionTech's Tally Cloud VPS?
PrecisionTech's Tally Cloud VPS infrastructure is hosted in Tier-3 certified data centres in India — Tier-3 guarantees 99.982% uptime (less than 1.6 hours of unplanned downtime per year). Our data centres have N+1 power redundancy (UPS + diesel generators with automatic failover), N+2 internet connectivity (multiple ISP uplinks with automatic failover), redundant cooling (N+1 precision air conditioning), and 24×7 on-site NOC (Network Operations Centre) monitoring. Your VPS availability target is 99.9% monthly (maximum 43.8 minutes of downtime per month). In practice, our VPS customers experience significantly less downtime — most planned maintenance (OS updates, hardware upgrades) is performed with live migration (VPS moves to another host without restart). Our support team monitors VPS health 24×7 and responds to infrastructure alerts automatically.
22
Is PrecisionTech an authorized Tally Partner? Can you sell Tally licences and TSS renewals?
Yes — PRECISION e-Technologies Pvt Ltd (PrecisionTech.in) is a Certified Official Tally Partner in India. We are authorised to sell: (1) TallyPrime licences — Silver (single user) and Gold (multi-user) for both outright purchase and rental/subscription. (2) Tally ERP 9 licences — if you need the older version. (3) TSS (Tally Software Services) subscriptions — annual subscription that provides access to Tally updates, statutory updates (GST rate changes, TDS updates, payroll compliance), and Tally.NET features; we can renew your expired TSS or upgrade your licence. (4) Tally on Cloud VPS — our proprietary managed cloud hosting service. (5) Tally customisation (TDL development), Tally integrations with ERP/e-commerce/banking systems, and Tally training for your staff. Buying your Tally licence and cloud hosting from PrecisionTech gives you a single point of contact for all your Tally requirements — one vendor, one support team, one invoice.
23
How does Tally on Cloud VPS pricing work? Is GST included in the plan price?
PrecisionTech's Tally on Cloud VPS plans are priced annually in Indian Rupees (INR): PURPLE (1 user) at ₹5,999/year (~₹500/month), YELLOW (2 users) at ₹8,999/year (~₹750/month), ORANGE (5 users) at ₹14,999/year (~₹1,250/month), and RED (10 users) at ₹19,999/year (~₹1,667/month). These prices are exclusive of applicable GST (currently 18% for IT services). PrecisionTech provides a proper GST-compliant tax invoice (with our GSTIN) for every subscription — allowing your business to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) on the cloud hosting expense. Payment methods accepted: UPI, NEFT/RTGS bank transfer, credit/debit card, and net banking. No hidden charges — setup, data migration, daily backups, antivirus, and ransomware protection are all included in the plan price. The Tally software licence (TallyPrime Silver or Gold) is separate and can also be purchased from PrecisionTech as a Certified Tally Partner.
24
Can I use Tally on Cloud VPS from my iPhone or iPad while travelling?
Yes — accessing Tally on Cloud from an iPhone or iPad is one of the most popular use cases. Install the free Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the App Store (available for both iPhone and iPad). Add a new connection with your VPS IP address, username, and password (provided by PrecisionTech at setup). Tap Connect — your full TallyPrime desktop appears on your iOS device. On iPad, the experience is excellent with the larger screen — you can enter vouchers, view reports, check stock, and even print to your nearby printer. On iPhone, the screen is smaller but fully functional for checking reports, approving entries, and monitoring daily summaries. Tips for best iPhone/iPad experience: use landscape mode, enable external keyboard support for faster data entry, and ensure you have a stable 4G/5G or Wi-Fi connection (1 Mbps minimum). This works identically on Android phones and tablets using the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from Google Play Store.
25
What is the difference between Tally on Cloud VPS and hosting Tally on AWS or Azure?
While you can technically install TallyPrime on an AWS EC2 instance or Azure Virtual Machine, PrecisionTech's Tally Cloud VPS is a purpose-built, fully managed Tally hosting service — designed specifically for Indian Tally users. Key differences: (1) Pricing — AWS/Azure VM costs for Windows Server with equivalent RAM are typically ₹3,000–₹8,000/month (₹36,000–₹96,000/year), vs PrecisionTech VPS plans at ₹5,999–₹19,999/year — significantly cheaper because we optimise specifically for Tally workloads. (2) Fully managed — on AWS/Azure you manage the VM yourself (OS updates, security patches, backups, antivirus, RDP configuration, Tally installation). PrecisionTech handles everything — you just use Tally. (3) Tally expertise — our support team understands Tally-specific issues (TDL loading, licence activation, GSTN connectivity, multi-company setup) — not just generic VM support. (4) Free setup + migration — included in all PrecisionTech plans; on AWS/Azure you do it yourself. (5) Tally Partner — PrecisionTech is a Certified Official Tally Partner and can also sell you TallyPrime licences and renew TSS — one vendor for everything Tally.
26
Can I send invoices from Tally on Cloud via WhatsApp or email automatically?
Yes — TallyPrime on Cloud supports automated invoice dispatch via both email and WhatsApp: (1) Email — TallyPrime has a built-in email feature that can send invoices, statements, and reports directly from Tally as PDF attachments using your configured SMTP email account (Gmail, Outlook, or custom domain email). This works identically on cloud VPS as on a local Tally installation. (2) WhatsApp — PrecisionTech provides custom TDL modules that enable one-click WhatsApp invoice dispatch directly from TallyPrime. When you print an invoice, the TDL generates a PDF, opens WhatsApp Web (or WhatsApp Business API), and sends the invoice to the customer's phone number — all from within Tally. This is especially popular with trading and retail businesses who want to send invoices instantly after billing. (3) Bulk dispatch — for businesses sending hundreds of invoices per month, PrecisionTech can build custom integrations using Python/Node.js bridges that extract invoice data from Tally and dispatch via WhatsApp Business API or email in batch. Contact PrecisionTech for WhatsApp TDL module pricing and setup.
